Nick DeMoss - Back to Back at English Creek
6-26-10
Nick DeMoss - Back to Back at English Creek - (DeMoss Racing) - June 26, 2010 - With no rain on Thursday or Friday, the races were able to take place at English Creek Speedway on June 25, 2010. Nick would draw 46 for the night wish would put him on the tail of the first heat race. When a car was unable to make the call, Nick moved up to start in the 5th position. Nick would quickly gain the 4th position and was trying everything he could to pass the 2 cars racing in front of him. With a few to go, those 2 cars would tangle, causing both of them to retire. Nick would take over the 2nd spot on the restart and hold that position until the checkers flew.
In the 2nd heat race, Nick would start on the pole. David Herrmann would get the early jump, but it was all DeMoss after the first lap. Nick commented, "The car stumbled on me a little on the start and David got a little jump on us. Once the motor picked up we were really good. Towards the end of that race the motor was dying on us. We found we had a cut fuel line when we got back in the pits and we were able to get that fixed before the feature."
The two good finishes put Nick on the pole of the feature. Tanner Edwards would get the jump on the start and the battle was a good one. For 12 laps the crowd was entertained to a fine battle for the lead. Nick would run the top in 3 and 4 while Edwards was on the bottom. The racing would be almost side by side until Nick was able to pull beside Edwards coming off of turn 4 and beat him into turn 1. Nick would go on to win his 2nd consecutive race and is a mere 4 points from being perfect on the season. After the race, Nick commented, "The car was absolutely perfect, and the motor was very strong. Tanner had the line I wanted to run so I had to figure a way around him. I kept catching him on the wrong parts of the track and was unable to make a pass. I had to let him go a little bit so I could get the timing right to make the pass on the front stretch. Luckily I was able to do that and get the win. Tanner is a very good racer and I assume there will be some more good battles with him the rest of the season."
This brings Nick's career win total to 21. Nick will next be racing in Montana for the $2500 to win Wild West Shootout.
