Nick DeMoss - 3-Peat at English Creek
7-9-10
Nick DeMoss - 3-Peat at English Creek- (DeMoss Racing) - July 9, 2010 - Coming off of a great weekend in Montana, Nick was back in action at English Creek Speedway. Because of mother nature, this would be only be English Creek's 3rd race of the season.
The night started off by drawing the number 36 pill which would put Nick in the first heat, 2nd row inside. Nick would get caught up by the front row in turns 1 and 2 as Tanner Edwards would go high and take the lead. By the end of the first lap Nick would find himself in 2nd and start chasing down Tanner. After closing the gaps a couple of times, the crowd would see Nick fall back and then hear a bunch of noise. Nick would coast to a 2nd place finish, shutting down the machine just feet passed the flag stand. When asked of the noise, Nick said, "The track was really rough and tacky and it was really beating us around. After I stopped I noticed that the bung in the pipe for one of my gauges had broke. I didnt want to hurt the motor so I just let off the gas and tried to salvage a decent finish. To walk away with a 2nd in that situation is better than we could have asked for."
Because of his pill draw, Nick would have to start in the exact same starting spot in the 2nd heat race. He would line up behind heat race 1 winner, Tanner Edwards. Edwards got a good jump on the start and Nick quickly jumped into the 2nd spot. A series of slide jobs insued until Nick was able to gain control and go on to a comfortable win. When asked about the race Nick said, "That was a fun one! This SUP motor has a lot of power and I was able to have a couple of good runs and slide him (Edwards). After we finally were able to make the pass I was able to run a good line. This should make for an exciting feature!"
Once the lineups were posted, Nick would be on the pole. David Herrmann got the early jump on the start, but Nick would make the pass in turn two and set sail. Nick had a commanding lead when a caution for a stalled car would bunch up the field. After a couple of cautions, the race would go green and Nick would slowly stretch his lead on Edwards and pick up his 3rd straight win at English Creek. "The car was handling great and the motor was way fast! I would like to thank my Dad and Aaron for all the work in the pits getting this car ready after that 1st heat race. I would also like to thank Linda for filming these races for me and to my fan section behind the flag stand for all their support! It was nice to get 3 in a row. Hopefully we can keep doing it!"
Nick will once again be in action at English Creek Speedway on July 16. If all goes well, he may be making a trip to Eastern Ohio for their $1000 to win race. If Nick is able to make it to that race he will be driving one the the SKE Factory Karts from North Carolina.
